Every group project (조별과제jobyeolgwaje) has two kinds of people: the one who does all the work, and the one who does none of it. Korean has a name for both.
The trap
Don't use the athlete name as a literal comparison—it sounds robotic.
Wrong: 그는 정말 메시 같아요.geuneun jeongmal mesi gatayo. (He is really like Messi.) — sounds like you're comparing soccer skills.
Right: 이번 조별과제 완전 네가 메시였어.ibeon jobyeolgwaje wanjeon nega mesiyeosseo. (You were totally the Messi of this group project.) — uses the name as a vibe word for "the one who carried us."

Borrowed from Lionel Messi, 메시mesi is the ultimate praise for a "carry"—the person whose skill or effort single-handedly saves the group. You'll hear it most in group projects, games, and teamwork.
